Folding Laundry, Unfolding Murder: A True Crime Documentary Review

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope you had a great holiday season!

It's been a hot minute since I've posted on my blog with all the madness.  But I was constructive through the chaos!

Between laundry and prepping the house for the holiday festivities, I binged hard on some documentaries! Here are my reviews and ratings!

"The Good Neighbor" - This documentary highlights a homicide in Florida between two neighbors. From the first minor dispute to the tragic ending, this documentary is pieced together by police body camera footage which shows how the situation gradually escalated to this violent level over a long period of time. The emotions are very raw, since this is actual footage and zero dramatization. I have to admit, I fought off a a few tears at one particular part of the footage. Catch it on Netflix.

Rating - 8.5/10

"My Father, the BTK Killer" - This film is centered around Kerri Rawson, the daughter of Dennis Rader (aka BTK Killer). Rader is one of the most callous serial killers caught in recent history. Rawson discusses her relationship with her father growing up, and how much her life was turned upside down after the arrest of her father. Also on Netflix.

Rating - 9/10

"Psycho: The Lost Tapes of Ed Gein" - Y'all know that anything Ed Gein, I'm gonna watch. This documentary highlights more of the investigation regarding Gein's crimes, as well as plays some recently found audio footage of Gein's interrogation by investigators. This documentary is hosted by the podcasters "Last Podcast On the Left". In my honest opinion, it was decent. Catch it on MGM+ if you have it.

Rating - 6.5/10

"Let the Devil In" - Famous filmmaker and director Eli Roth delves into this homicide/suicide case that occurred in Jefferson Township, NJ which left many unanswered questions, and ignited the Satanic Panic at the time. In my honest opinion, not very captivating and can be a bit dry at times. Also on MGM +

Rating - 5.5/10

"Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story" - Honestly, this documentary was intriguing. Using body camera footage and interviews with witnesses, this Netflix documentary pieces together how Jodi Hildebrandt manipulated dozens of couples to the point of near cult-like levels. Her actions swindled millions from naive couples, to the point where her "partnership" with Ruby Franke exacerbated this delusion she sold on the internet. It's honestly frightening how she brainwashed people seeking help. And don't get me started on Franke.

Rating - 9/10

Hope this was helpful!  Now get your binge on!
